Salary and benefits: Salary Range $90,000 – $132,000, with financial support for benefits plans. Financial support for relocation will also be considered. PTO, holidays, etc.

POSITION OVERVIEW: Resurrection House is a forward thinking, faith-based resource center committed to transitioning at-risk individuals to a path of self-sufficiency.

The Executive Director (ED) serves as the dynamic leader of Resurrection House who is critical in achieving the organization’s vision while shaping the long-term the strategic direction. The ED oversees the daily operations while expanding Resurrection House’s influence in serving the homeless in Sarasota County. Collaborating with and reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the ED has overall operational, and financial responsibility for the organization’s staff, programs, facility, community outreach and execution of its mission.

The ED possesses a deep knowledge of the daily challenges the homeless face in our local service area, along with an understanding of the core programs that are available as well as gaps that exist in restoring the dignity of our clients. The ED is a persuasive, results-driven, and innovative leader who thrives on building relationships and inspiring others. S/he is also responsible for building relationships with board members, community partners, civic partners, government officials, financial organizations, faith-based leaders, and others to accomplish the organization’s mission, vision, and strategic priorities. The ED position is tasked with continuing the work of the all-volunteer board and community leaders, while at the same time offering new ways to engage the community. Additionally, the Executive Director will serve as the primary fundraiser and spokesperson, and as such, is accountable for developing sustainable revenue streams to achieve the organization’s mission.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES

Leadership & Management:

  1. Demonstrate and communicate a clear vision for Resurrection House.
  2. Nurture team development, drive operational excellence, and execute organizational goals while promoting a culture of strengths-based leadership.
  3. Actively engage and energize board members, volunteers, partner organizations, faith community and donors.
  4. Coordinate and implement ongoing strategic planning that moves the mission forward and fulfills the vision of the organization.
  5. Serve as an advisor to the board of directors, attend all board meetings and advise the board of any issues in which they should be involved.
  6. Work collaboratively with the Board of Directors to set both strategic and annual goals, establish policy, and enhance human and financial resources.
  7. Develop and achieve appropriate long-term and annual objectives with measurable outcomes.

Operations:

  1. Oversee the day- to-day operations to include client management and program support, volunteer development/retention and facilities management.
  2. Manage technology infrastructure to support the needs of the organization as it grows.
  3. Ensure the organization is compliant with all government regulations and requirements.
  4. Identify and evaluate risks to the organizations’ people, property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks.

Human Resources Planning and Management:

  1. Understand, adapt and interact with diverse people, teams, perspectives and cultures.
  2. Hire, train, supervise and evaluate the staff.
  3. Lead, coach, develop, and retain a high-performance team in the implementation of the mission, vision, and organizational goals.
  4. Establish job descriptions and conduct annual performance reviews for staff members.
  5. Determine annual merit increases based upon performance.
  6. Coach and mentor staff to continuously achieve higher levels of performance.
  7. Provide Board with meaningful recommendations regarding staff performance, training, compensation, and benefits.
  8. Develop and implement compensation and benefit plans, based upon the Board’s direction.

Financial Planning and Management:

  1. Assess and assure financial feasibility of current programs as well as that of all new initiatives.
  2. Assume responsibility for the financial health, stability, capacity, and planned growth of the organization.
  3. Prepare annual operating plan and oversee annual budget management for organization.
  4. Monitor all finances and work closely with the Board to ensure an efficient and cost-effective operation.
  5. Maintain all necessary registrations and certifications to comply with state charitable requirements.
  6. Be vigilant in seeking prompt and effective enforcement and compliance to any relevant laws.

Program Management:

  1. Ensure the ongoing development and implementation of programs and services that meet the needs of those we serve.
  2. Establish evaluation systems and organizational processes to monitor program outcomes and improve quality services.

Fundraising:

  1. Oversee the strategic development plan designed to raise needed funds for annual operating, capital projects, and endowment building.
  2. Cultivate and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, lead donor engagement efforts, and oversee the planning and execution of fundraising appeals, events and campaigns.
  3. Utilize software and data systems to communicate and enhance donor relationships.
  4. Prepare and monitor all grants and funding projects; prepare final and year end reports.

Community Engagement and Communication:

  1. Interact with municipal, state, and elected leaders to ensure that the organization’s interests are properly advanced.
  2. Partner with existing organizations in the region including faith-based organizations, funder networks, government work groups, aging adult support, income equity providers and other non-profits and agencies throughout the region.
  3. Serve as an articulate, confident, and persuasive advocate for Resurrection House.
  4. Serve as outward facing representative for promoting and advocating for the organization.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Passion for the Resurrection House mission.
  • A faithful, committed, servant leader who believes in God.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in non-profit field required with residential shelter or day center program experience a plus.
  • Minimum of 3 years progressively responsible experience with fiscal management; including budget development, revenue growth, fund raising, program management, community relationship building, required.
  • Bachelor’s degree, or commensurate experience. (Graduate degree in a related field preferred).
  • Demonstrated experience building a community around the mission.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in particular, being able to effectively communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Flexible to changing business priorities and ability to multi-task
  • Demonstrated success in developing and engaging effective non-profit boards.
  • Knowledge of how to navigate the various government and political entities to the advantage of the organization.
  • A successful track record in working with high performing staff/teams and creating a positive workplace environment.
  • Knowledge of fiscal management and non-profit business acumen.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to establish relationships internally and externally, act as a bridge builder and change agent in the community.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Flexible schedule with capability to work evenings and weekends.
  • Public speaking & media experience (all group sizes, ages, and backgrounds) a PLUS.
  • Strong technical skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
